The Free Black Woman’s Library Celebrates Black Feminist Voices
There’s nothing that’s more relaxing than curling up stoned – after puffing on a joint or snacking on one of our naturally radical cannabis infused Jellies – with a good book and the morning to go on whatever journey the pages will take you. The Free Black Woman’s Library celebrates Black feminist voices by providing inclusive access to literature by Black women, programs and resources. Learn more about the work they do and how to support them down below.
For January, the Floret Coalition is supporting The Free Black Woman’s Library. The Free Black Women’s Library is a social art project and traveling book collection that celebrates the brilliance, diversity, and imagination of Black women writers. Founded by OlaRonke Akinmowo, the library provides an inclusive and accessible space for reading, writing, learning, resting, creating, and connecting.
“It is a community hub, love letter and resource.”
The library features a collection of over 3000 books by Black women as well as free monthly programming that includes workshops, performances, film screenings, book talks, and radical conversations on race, gender, art and culture. Currently, donations go towards acquiring a Reading Room, Bookmobile and Staffperson for the library.
We invite you to join us in supporting their work by donating funds to go towards the growth and sustainability of the library, amplifying on social, volunteering or donating books. More ways to get involved can be found on their website.
